Friendly staff ran by family! Food was really solid, very fresh which is always great. I'd probably take food to go next time instead of dining in, not that comfortable of seating.

Fantstic food. Very tasty. Great deal. Reasonable prices. Had fish tacos and shrimp tacos. So good. Get the beans and rice as a side too. Very good. Just a short 2 minutes off I 29 too.

Tacos are a food group, that is not a question. Need converting to that fact? Head over to 6th & Pearl to Tacos El Guero for delicious street tacos stuffed with your choice of meat. Today was carne asada, chicken, onion and cilantro. Grab a bottle of hot sauce from the fridge case for the table salsa verde sweet and yummy as always. Washed it down with some cantaloupe drink. Cash only (an atm is onsite), street parking that’s free on the weekends, closed Monday. Worthy stop if tacos make you happy.

Excellent birria Tacos without a doubt. The dining area was nicely kept and clean. The men's room could be fixed up a bit and repainted but was clean. You can also see into the kitchen which is kept clean and organized.

One of the last places I expected to find great authentic Mexican food was the State of Iowa while driving cross country. This place was incredible. Be prepared for a little bit of a wait, but please know that it is worth it. I have had the privilege of growing up around the Mexican community in Georgia and just the smell as I walked in the door brought back those memories. I love that they give giant cups of their delicious Jamaica (there's other drinks too, but that's jst what I got) and the food is made hot and ready to order. I hope you stop in to give these friendly people's food a try!

We were in town for college orientation and found this place. Brianna, the host/waitress was very nice and helpful! It's a small restaurant and that is more for deliveries and grab and go but you can eat there too! We decided to eat there since it was just me and my husband. We had asada, birria and pastor tacos, chips and salsa and drinks:) we each got 5 tacos, a drink and shared chips and salsa. We spent less then 40 which I thought was good. The place is really cute, clean and had a good vibe. Brianna was very nice and helpful. Food was so good and priced just right!! We will be back here when we visit our son!!

Located at 525 Pearl St, this taco haven invites both locals and travelers alike to indulge in an authentic taste of Mexican street food. Known for its laid-back atmosphere and friendly service, Tacos El Guero is more than just a restaurant; it's a culinary experience that embodies the warmth of family tradition.

The menu is a celebration of flavors, showcasing an impressive array of dishes that highlight fresh ingredients and traditional recipes. Among the standouts are:

  • Jumbo Shrimp Burrito: A massive flour tortilla filled to the brim with grilled shrimp, rice, beans, and a mix of veggies, all drizzled with sour cream for just $11.00. This dish is perfect for those whose appetites rival that of the burrito itself!
  • Fish Tacos: For just $1.50 each, these corn tortillas cradle perfectly fried tilapia, complemented by fresh tomatoes, cilantro, and onions. It's a dish that echoes the coastal roots of Mexican cuisine.
  • Tostada de Camaron: Light yet rich in flavor, this tostada topped with shrimp is an excellent choice for seafood lovers, priced at a very reasonable $3.00.

Customer reviews echo a consistent theme: Tacos El Guero serves food that is both delicious and fresh. Eagle Armstrong highlighted the quality of the ingredients and the friendly demeanor of the staff, which adds an extra layer of comfort to your dining experience. Similarly, William Toulouse raved about the fish and shrimp tacos, suggesting that you pair these delights with the seasoned beans and rice.

The dining area may be modest, as Matthew Strauser pointed out, but the cleanliness and the open view into the kitchen offer a reassuring glance at the care and dedication behind each dish served. It’s an establishment where every taco becomes a culinary treasure, and the simple seating belies the richness of the flavors presented.

For those who find joy in tacos—which, for many, are a veritable food group—Tacos El Guero is an essential stop. The combination of tasty offerings, reasonable prices, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a worthy destination. Don’t forget to grab a bottle of the house-made salsa verde to elevate your taco experience further.

Whether you dine in or take away, Tacos El Guero promises a satisfying meal filled with authenticity and heart. Head to 6th & Pearl for an unforgettable taco adventure!
